Hope - Dusty Attic & More Than Words

Well, I haven't been crafting much lately but with a rainy weekend... I had the itch to create. I went looking for some inspiration and found a stunning The Dusty Attic Mood board and a very fitting theme for Covid from the More Than Words Challenge - both for June.

Here are the images of the mood color board and the inspirational theme of windows/door (and the word hello to be portrayed). I chose to go more heavily on the middle softer colors of the Dusty Attic mood board. I also chose the window theme and named the layout hope... representing all the people that have only been able see and wave hello to their loved ones through a window during this Covid pandemic. My hope is that that they will soon be able to say hello in person with open arms for much needed hugs (especially the elderly).

Here is a close-up of the embellishments to compliment the pretty Blue Fern "bird waltz" papers: Dusty Attic small scrolls and a mini word chipboard, Prima resin and flowers/butterfly, Green Tara "bling" and dollar store doilies. The little girl peeking out the window is an image from Pion Design and I used Helmar adhesives on everything. This is kinda a tribute to most of the fantastic manufacturer design teams I have served on at one point in the last two decades!

Thanks for taking a peek at my "hope" project today. Stay safe and hopeful everyone!

Sparkle All the Way - Blue Fern

I couldn't resist making one more layout with the gorgeous Christmas Cheer collection before breaking out the Valentine's projects. The papers are just too fun to work with!

I embellished with beautiful Blue Fern white blooms, Sparkle collection chipboard (title and snowflakes), and even tucked some flower charms from the Radiance collection for a chilly feel.

I painted all of the chipboard white and then applied glaze and quickly sprinkled a bit of diamond dust, to add sparkle.

Thanks for visiting the blog today to check out my project!

Holly Jolly Layout - Blue Fern

Before packing up the holiday crafting, I am sharing a layout created with the beautiful Blue Fern Christmas Cheer collection. I love the timeless look of these papers!

I used the Holly Days Flourish and Fa La La Border chipboard pieces, along pretty white blooms, to frame a vintage stock photo.

I kept the design and inking of the chipboard simple to let the pretty paper design shine. Everything except for a paper doily is gorgeous Blue Fern product.

I hope you enjoyed my project today!

Christmas Cheer Ornaments - Blue Fern

Just over a week until Christmas! Sharing a few fun ornaments created with the new Blue Fern Christmas Cheer paper collection and chipboard today...

On the "Christmas Cuties" chipboard, I painted them off-white and polished with glass beads mixed media gel. I wanted the focus to be the "delighted" paper, surrounded by soft elegance.

I used some pretty Blue Fern "summer blooms" and ribbon that matched perfectly for this project!

Thanks for taking a peek today & happy holidays!

Christmas Cheer Box - Blue Fern

Happy Friday! I am here to share a handmade kirigami box... perfect for the gift giving season. This box was made with the phenomenal new Blue Fern Christmas Cheer collection. The coordinating ephemera and chipboard in this collection is so vintage and just my style! I added a white bloom from the Homespun collection and a silver charm from the Radiance collection.

On the "Christmas Cheer" chipboard piece, I simply stippled gesso and sprayed with light green mist. At the bottom of the box topper I glued some gorgeous Blue Fern lace, to polish it off. This box is 4"x 4"x 4". These take a bit of time to make but are worth putting something special in them. Here is a link to a previous tutorial I did on how to make the basic box: https://simplypaperandcreativity.blogspot.com/2011/07/kirigami-box-tutorial.html

Thanks so much for stopping by to take a peek at my project.

Bloom Layout - Blue Fern

I am pretty sure that Blue Fern's Bird Waltz collection is my FAVE to date. Here is a layout of my daughter's school photo.  I usually have a hard time with school photo layouts, but this was the perfect paper collection for the "fake" picture backdrop they provided.  So Whimsical!

Many gorgeous Bleu Fern products layered on here... Summer, Pink and Apricot blooms, "take flight" bird chipboard (used chalk ink for colours), "bloom" title chipboard (used ink base and topped with Blue Fern's morning sun powder), "floral lace" chipboard (distressed inked).

I added some pretty doily accents from my stash and tucked more blooms in the corner.

Thanks for visiting the blog today!

Take Flight Layout - Blue Fern

Gosh... Blue Fern's Bird Waltz collection is so divine. Here is my "Take Flight" layout of when we left our house of 17 years and many memories. Loved this backyard!

Wow, just look at the gorgeous flowers, chipboard and heavenly paper! Due to the style of this layout, I kept the chipboard simple and only used some chalk ink on them. Close-up #1... includes take flight chipboard, dragonfly blossoms, summer blooms, bird waltz ephemera, and amazing paper layers.

Close-up #2... includes, oh so many pretty summer blooms and I chopped up some floral lace chipboard for the swirls around the flowers. More distressed paper layers!

Hope you like my layout!

"Hello" Layout - Blue Fern Studios

Sharing a layout today showcasing Blue Fern's Radiance collection which includes pretty papers, gorgeous chipboard, amazing lace and fantastic flowers.  All I needed to do is add a doily from my stash.  The picture is a throwback to a little puppy abandoned from its mother at 7 weeks old (picture taken over 25 years ago), that we ended up loving for almost 17 years before he passed away.

On the first close-up you can see that I cut a large ornate corner chipboard flourish to better suit my layout.  On the larger portion I inked it dark yellow and then randomly glued some fabulous sunbeam powder on it.

On the small portion of the flourish above and also the "hello" chipboard below, I used a mix of gesso and seafoam powder to give it a shabby chic look.

As always, thanks for stopping by to take a look at my project!

Christmas in July - Blue Fern

I am sharing a few "Christmas in July" tags made with Blue Fern's Homespun collection.  This was a fun challenge to use an unrelated collection and turn it into a few festive looking oversized gift tags.

On the first tag I used Barb's Medallion Chipboard, painted it white and topped it with diamond dust glass for a chilly look.  I then added a round adhesive shape from the Homespun collection and surrounded it with Blue Fern blooms... again adding diamond dust to the white flowers. The white ribbon is also from Blue Fern.

On the second tag I used some gorgeous Blue Fern white lace, white flowers and a coordinating Homespun adhesive shape.  The red ribbon is also from Blue fern so I dug into my stash to find a few red blooms to complement the papers and the pretty ribbon to add contrast to the fantastic white flowers and lace.

Thanks as always for stopping by to take a peek today!

Wild & Free Layout - Blue Fern

Sharing a layout created with Blue Fern's Wanderlust and Happy Accident collections.  This is a snapshot of the lakehouse before our renovations begin. Lots of layers and distressing and chipboard on this project!

Here is a close-up of A Spring Day chipboard bird (coated with oatmeal powder), Happy Accident ephemera and various Blue Fern blooms.

On this close-up, more of A Spring Day chipboard... the bird coated with oatmeal powder and the rest inked. All topped with a variety of Blue Fern blooms. There is also a Classic Mini Chipboard Frame that I distress inked and randomly glued oatmeal powder for a rustic look.

Layout with Blue Fern's RADIANCE Collection

I am sharing a layout created with the new Radiance collection from Blue Fern.  These papers and blooms are truly gorgeous.  This collection also features some pretty silver charms and lace too!  I accented with bling and a doily from my stash to pull everything together for a vintage look.  For the title I even used an adhesive shape from the Remnants collection... that just fit perfectly on here.

On the close-up you can see the cute butterfly charm, Radiance and Apricot collection blooms, Mina's border chipboard (I simply randomly distressed inked it) and some of that gorgeous vintage green lace.

Thanks for taking a peek at my project today!

Gift Card Holder - Blue Fern

I am sharing a fun card I made using all of the scraps left over from projects I have created for Blue Fern since February. Can you spot the collections? Homespun, Heartland, Remnants, Wanderlust, Amber & Apricot.

Inside is a coffee shop gift card holder with Happy Accident collection ephemera.

On the front I used Blue Fern seedlings on the love letter chipboard and some pretty flowers too.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today!

If These Walls Could Talk Layout - Blue Fern

This is the cute bungalow we moved from last year (yet remained in the same community), after purchasing our lake house. I still get emotional when I think of almost 18 years worth of memories in that place.

For this layout I used Blue Fern's gorgeous Remnants paper collection, coordinating adhesive shapes, lace, flowers, garden daisies chipboard and tattered walls ephemera. A few little embellishments from my stash to tie everything together.

On the close-up, you can see that I used Blue Fern's lavender seedlings on the garden daisies chipboard. They perfectly matched the purple lilacs in the photo. I still miss all the pretty lilacs we had on that property! Well, as always... thanks for stopping by to take a peek at my project today.

Altered Can and Jar - Blue Fern

I decided to have some fun altering a tomato can and a mayonnaise jar...

I just can't seem to get enough of Blue Fern's Homespun and Heartland collections.

On the tomato can I added an adhesive butterfly from the Remnants collection, Tattered walls ephemera and Blue Fern flowers too. Nothing from my stash on here - this is ALL gorgeous Blue Fern product.

On the mayonnaise jar, Homespun adhesive shapes, Tattered walls ephemera, Blue Fern flowers, ribbon and flourish heart chipboard... again nothing from my stash on this project either!

On the heart chipboard I inked in dark pink and then randomly glued some pink embossing powder on top for a thick shabby look. Well... once again tanks for stopping by to take a peek at my projects!
